ModBoss is a privacy-focused watch modification tracking app. We believe your personal data should remain private and under your control.

Data We DON’T Collect

  • Personal Information: We don’t collect names, email addresses, or any personally identifiable information
  • Build Data: Your watch builds, parts, and modifications remain entirely on your device and in your private iCloud account
  • Photos: All photos are stored locally and in your personal iCloud Photo Library
  • Location Data: We don’t track your location
  • Contact Information: We don’t access your contacts or phone number

Data We DO Collect (Anonymous Analytics Only)

We use Firebase Analytics to collect anonymous usage data to improve the app:

Anonymous Usage Metrics

  • Build Counts: How many builds users create (for Pro upgrade optimization)
  • Feature Usage: Which features are used most frequently
  • Wishlist Size: Number of items in watchlists (anonymous)
  • Parts Bin Size: Number of parts tracked (anonymous)
  • Crash Reports: Technical crash data to fix bugs
  • Platform Information: Whether you’re using iPhone, iPad, or Mac

Anonymous Identifiers

  • We generate a random UUID for analytics that cannot be linked back to you
  • This identifier helps us understand user patterns without identifying individuals
  • You can reset this identifier by deleting and reinstalling the app

Subscription Analytics

  • Pro subscription purchases and cancellations (anonymous)
  • Paywall interaction data to improve conversion
  • Revenue data (anonymous, for business analytics)

Third-Party Services

Firebase (Google)

  • Purpose: Anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting
  • Data Shared: Anonymous usage metrics only (no personal data)

Web Scraping Services

  • Purpose: Extract product information from trusted retailer websites when you provide URLs
  • Security: Only 54 pre-approved watch retailer domains are allowed for security
  • Data Processed: Product URLs you choose to analyze (must be from approved retailers)
  • Data Retention: URLs are processed in real-time and not stored
  • Domain Updates: Approved retailer list updated via Firebase Remote Config for security

API Services

  • 17TRACK: Package tracking (only tracking numbers you provide)
  • UniRateAPI: Currency conversion (no personal data)
  • AliExpress DataHub: Product information (only product URLs you provide)

Your Data Rights

What Stays Private

  • All your builds, parts, photos, and personal notes remain on your device and in your private iCloud account
  • We cannot access, view, or retrieve your personal data
  • Your data syncs directly between your devices through Apple’s CloudKit

Data Control

  • You can disable analytics by turning off “Share Analytics” in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements
  • You can delete all your data by deleting the app
  • You can reset your anonymous analytics ID by reinstalling the app

Data Security

  • Local Storage: Your personal data is encrypted on your device using iOS standard encryption
  • iCloud Sync: Data synced to iCloud uses Apple’s end-to-end encryption
  • Analytics: Anonymous analytics are transmitted over HTTPS and stored securely by Firebase
  • No Servers: We don’t operate servers that store your personal data

Children’s Privacy

ModBoss is not intended for users under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted in the app and on our website. Continued use of the app constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
